Kongoji, aka Yasaka-Koshindo is now known as a power spot for young girls who wish for romances with their Prince Charming. However the origin of this temple is an ancient Chinese story, Sanshi-setsu, which doesn't really matter with romance or anything.
Then what is the Sanshi-setsu?
Kanoe 庚 Saru, monkey 申 is the 57th of 60 Chinese zodiacs. On the days of kanoe saru or the years of kanoe saru, people can be greedy and cold to others.
Sanshi is the worm in our hearts. They come out of our body when people fell asleep in the night of kanoe saru. They tell the god how bad the person is and make people's lifespan short. Because of this thought it's been told that people have to stay up whole night on kanoe saru. This story was brought from China and made the basics of its brief and was widely spread by Edo era.
Well...then how come people call this place as a power spot for romance?
The clue for the answer those colorful hanging monkeys.
Kukuri:hanging →Musubi:tie up→En-musubi: tie up relationships
Hmmm another word game?
Monkeys are messengers of the god but are also described as very greedy animals. These hanging monkeys denote trapped desires in human hearts. It's said when you wish something, you have to give up another thing. This place might be the place, which reminds people to be humble always.

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil
