柴又、寅さん、お団子 Shibamata, Tora-san, and Dango

東京、柴又。The 下町！そして寅さん。聞いたり、観たりしていてもなかなか行ったことのなかった柴又に行ってみました。

Tokyo, Shibamata-The Shitamachi! and Tora-san. (Tora-san is the famous and popular character from film series "Otoko wa Tsurai yo" starring Kiyoshi Atsumi. In the plot, Tora-san's home is Shibamata, Katsushika, Tokyo and this place was and still is, the beloved mecca for Tora-san fans.) I've watched some of those films and I've heard about Shibamata but never been there before.

柴又駅の前にはもちろん、寅さん像！みんなが草履を触るからか左足だけぴっかぴか。

As soon as I walked out the Shibamata station, I found Tora-san! Seems like everyone touches his left foot, it's so shiny ;)

寅さんの映画になくてはならない高木屋さんは歴史のあるお団子屋さん。

In the film plot, Tora-san's elderly uncle and aunt run Japanese sweet, Dango shop. Dango is Japanese traditional sweet made from mochi-rice flour.The start was that film clues used some rooms in this shop for changing costumes and resting during film shooting. You can see film related memorial stuff in Takagi-ya.

草団子が有名だけど、3種類食べられるお団子セットに。

Kusa-Dango is famous but I ordered set menu so that I can try 3 different tastes. From the front, Mitarashi (Sweet soy), Yomogi (Mugwort with sweet red bean), Isobe (soy and seaweeds).
